'Sacred Love' and more...

British superstar Sting thrilled his audience at the Chemnitz Arena on Tuesday. The Saxon city was the only East German stop on his current indoor tour through Germany. The more than 5,000 spectators walked the path of 'Sacred Love' with equal attention and enthusiasm, alongside the master pop giant. The singer and bassist, who has played a key role in shaping the music scene for almost three decades, first as the frontman of "Police" and later as a soloist, performed the tracks from this album in particular.

Backed by five musicians and two backup singers, Sting presented a thrilling show. It began with the song "Send Your Love," characterized by driving rhythms and oriental influences, and ended after about two hours with the hit "Every Breath You Take" as an encore. In between, in addition to some songs from the new album, there were some of the superstar's absolute bestsellers from his solo career, including the "Police" era. These included "Fields of Gold," "Brand New Day," "Englishman in New York," and, of course, "Roxanne." The highlight of the concert was undoubtedly the song "Whenever I Say Your Name," which Sting sang as a duet with the powerful-voiced Joy Rose.

Jazz trumpeter Chris Botti, who was scheduled to perform as a special guest, was not present in Chemnitz. Instead, the Berlin band "Tele" warmed up the audience with powerful German rock at the beginning.
